Does life really begin at 40? Think about it. You’re closer to retirement. Your kids are young adults. You’re looking over your life and reflecting on your accomplishments. You delightfully realize you’re living goals you may have set 1, 3, 5, or 10 years ago.
Each year and stage of life brings bring different challenges and opportunities. It’s typical to have areas of life where you feel stuck and others where you’re soaring to new heights. Reflecting on your year sets up 2023 to be even better. Here’s how:
- Reflect on what’s worth keeping and improving in 2023. Exercise gratitude for the stability.
- Reflect on your past 5 years to gain perspective on the recent arc of your life. Celebrate how much you’ve grown from where you started.
- Reflect 5 years into the future. Will you being doing the same work, living in the same place? How are your health and finances? Unsure? Use the Want List and Tournament process from The On-Purpose Person.
- Reflect on goals for the next year and then break them down into quarterly increments.
- Clarify your vision and make a vision board with images and words that are reflecting your goals. Review your vision board daily to seed them into your consciousness.
- Jump-start 2023 by planning today. Waiting until January 1 means you’re already late.
- Plan to be flexible as the year evolves with changes and opportunities.
- Focus on doing one thing at a time. Multitasking is often heralded, but it’s an indicator you’re not confident in what’s best for you in the moment and beyond.
