With Preparing being the October theme, Post 1 was about your Purpose and Values. Post 2 was about your Vision and Missions. Post 3 described how best to integrate your PVMV into a strategic story that is informed but not bound by your past to create your future.
This post, Post 4, is about creating an On-Purpose Plan for solidifying the practicalities for being on-purpose in order to achieve a desired outcome. The natural tendency is to want to take action; however, as the old seamstress expression goes, “A stitch in time saves nine.” In other words, fixing small holes before they become bigger ones is a wise investment.
The process of planning sparks a growth mindset, fuels motivation, builds confidence, and provides resilience for the inevitable challenges ahead. Proper preparation involves understanding oneself and one’s own strengths and weaknesses so that obstacles can be identified early on and creative solutions found.
Much like cooking, it helps to have a recipe with the list of ingredients along with the order for mixing them along with the timing. A life or business plan is a “recipe” designed to create a more predictable outcome and a guide for what to expect.
Will things go wrong? Of course. Thanks, however, to knowing your why (purpose), where you’re headed (vision), and how you intend to fulfill your purpose and vision (missions), plus what guides you (values), you’re extraordinarily well prepared to navigate the unexpected.
Now’s the time to identify needed resources, set timetables, and seek guidance to build your plan. Embrace the quiet before the storm of activities hits the shores of your soul.
Be On-Purpose!
