What’s your personal narrative? A narrative is a written or spoken account of a string of events that happened in your life and reported as seen through your eyes.
Therefore, our perceptions and prejudices invariably warp and wrap our account into a “factual” recollection often embellished by time. What was bad became worse, and what was good becomes even better.
Your narrative may rooted a family legacy handed from one generation to the next such as “We’re the (your last name) and here’s what it means to be a (your last name).” Or, your personal narrative may be the product of a defining incident from earlier in your life that decades later colors your life experience today. Such TOUGH SHIFT events such as an illness, the untimely death of a parent or sibling, an accident, a relocation, or job loss, for example, leave lasting imprints.
In the light of your Purpose, Vision, Missions, and Values (PVMV), you’re presented with an opportunity to reconsider or break free from the story of your life to rewrite your future narrative. You can create a strategic story by leveraging your past and putting your PVMV to work in your life trajectory.
Is now the time to be set free from your unproductive or wayward past narrative? Will it be easy? Not necessarily, but it will be significantly better being led by your stated Purpose, Vision, Missions, and Values as your compass, map, equipment, and protective guide. Gain your advantage over your old narrative by writing and living into a new one.
Be On-Purpose!
