Part 1 of this series, All Your Heart, revealed the inner order of living life from one’s heart, soul, mind, and strength. Here in Part 2, we’ll step beyond the Self to explore the working dynamics of God, Self, and Others.
BTW: God, in On-Purpose parlance, is used generously and respectfully of various perspectives. Others may prefer terms such as Higher Power, Universe, The Force, Mother Earth, or some other acknowledgment of something greater and mysterious that existed before their birth and will continue after their death.
Join me later today on our free monthly Refine Your Purpose live coaching call. The context of purpose and “The God-Self-Others Relationship” is an essential method to more accurately peel and reveal greater understanding and perspective for one’s 2-word purpose.
Here’s the typical scenario. I ask, “On-Purpose Pal, what does your 2-word purpose mean to you?”
You describe how your 2-word purpose fits to your work — how you’re making a difference in the world. Your outer expression of being on-purpose is worthy of celebration. But wait for it, because next we’ll “reverse-engineer” your purpose to its source to discover a hidden dimension and tool to your wellbeing.
Next, I’ll invite you to answer, “How does your purpose relate to your relationship with God?” You’ll likely stop and ponder for a moment. Invariably, you will have an answer that’s grist for the mill of further interaction.
Then, I’ll ask about the relationship of You with You as to your 2-word purpose — the Self. And we’ll discuss this. Ultimately, this inquiry threads meaningful linkages between your God-Self-Others Relationship.
The basis for this meaningful and penetrating exchange is The Greatest Commandment (insert in the accompanying graphic). More than the relationships themselves, there’s the specific ordering of relationships and how we are to love God, Self, Others. This verse is about conformity but a realistic prescription for living well in the sum total of our relationships: God-Self-Others.
Many popular sayings incompletely reference the completeness of The Greatest Commandment. For example, “You can’t give what you don’t have,” is Self-Others advice noble with intention but falling short for lack of citing God, the primary provisioner. Embrace this loving concept. Its implications will transform, heal, and elevate you to greater heights, deeper compassion, and broader outreach.
God-Self-Others offers profound insight for ordering a healthy and joyful life. First God, then Self, then Others. This may be the most practical relationship insight you will ever receive. When the order is off, then you’re off, period. Now, you know why, where to focus, and what to do about it.
Your 2-word purpose is like a radio dial for tuning into a personal wavelength for being with God. What once was static is transmitting clearly. At first, it may be overwhelming, convicting, and scary. On the other hand, your sensation of “something is missing in my life” is being rapidly replaced in a flood of sensible fulfillment and awe as God’s love sweeps into you.
♥️ Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. When you see the “Be Mine” message candy, embrace that message is first from God, then for you to love you, so you can love others from a place of quiet confidence that you’re connected to the source of Love.
Be On-Purpose!
