Our March theme is Investing. On page 60 of The On-Purpose Person, the man visits with Perry, the “retired” executive who is coaching him. Perry says, “On-Purpose Persons invest our time rather than spend it.” With a nod to Perry, let’s explore this via my poem below.
A Moment to Invest by Kevin W. McCarthy
In the realm of time, choices intertwine,
Between spending and investing, a fine line,
For every moment holds potential unseen,
A difference vast, lost in one’s routine.
On-Purpose
To spend time is to live without a thought,
No intention, no return sought,
It’s an expense, fleeting and fleeting still,
With no expectation nor growth of goodwill.
On-Purpose
But investing time, that’s wise and clever,
With purpose and intention, worth the endeavor,
To seek a return, a yield of some kind,
A mindful act, leaving no moment behind.
On-Purpose
Like a shrewd investor, we carefully weigh,
Where our precious hours shall make their stay,
Seeking growth and gains in life’s grand scheme,
For time, once gone, remains just a dream.
on-purpose
Yet in this pursuit, let us not forget,
That rest and stillness, we must not neglect,
For relaxation, a pause, a sabbath day,
Are investments too, in their own special way.
on-purpo
For in moments of clam, let worries release,
Recharging the soul, bringing a gentle peace,
Investing in leisure, we nurture our core,
And return to the world with vigor once more.
on-purpose
So let us be wise with the time we possess,
Choosing on-purpose over mere excess,
For in this shift, we’ll find our divine worth,
Investing in moments creates true mirth.
